Do you remember last summer? The weather was really nice, we even went swimming in the sea down Gower! I also spent some of those really nice days in Swansea Museum on a drawing class with Edinburgh based Artist Kelly Stewart. There was about 10 of us and we were drawing the stuffed birds in the museum's collection of Victorian taxidermy. It was indeed quite a strange thing to do, i'm never really sure if that is the sort of thing I want to be doing really, but in some ways it was interesting to get up and very close to the specimens and you can see details you are unable to generally see in the wild or even the zoo. So in that sense it was interesting. although really I do prefer my birdies and insects alive and flying and buzzing about! Some of this work was for exhibition and indeed sale in Swansea Museum, just before lockdown. If it will still be on show after lockdown, who knows, I guess we shall have to wait and see. I have put some of my drawings for sale in my shop and also the two birdy screen prints created from the drawings. I have time during lockdown and am working on a few more drawings from my sketches, so I might add them with time too. |
