I am a Scottish artist born in Aberdeen in 1980. I Graduated from The University of East London in 2002 with a degree in Graphic Fine Art. I am based in Swansea, where I am a member of Swansea Print Workshop. I am often involved with community based printmaking projects. The subject matter I like to illustrate the best are animals and the natural world. I gain much inspiration from the local countryside and seascapes which naturally comes from living near the coast and the Gower peninsula. I often cycle from my base around the town making use of the fantastic bike paths in the city and the countryside and all that connect the two! There is many a bird to spot rustling in the undergrowth or flying above the riverside trees. I also take inspirations from my native Scotland who's sights and landscapes I am lucky enough to visit regularly.
I tend to use the process of Collagraph for my animal prints, in basic terms this involves printing from a collage, this technique gives such lovely graphic effects depending on how I use the rollers and textures on my plates. I edition all of my collagraph works, so they are limited editions and are signed, numbered and hand printed by me. I normally exhibit my work regularly in Britain and beyond but obviously Covid has changed all of that! Look out for infomation on my blog or Facebook page for updates on online exhibitions and hopefully some real world exhibitions soon!
